Quicktime for Windows is no longer support by Apple. We recommend using Audacity or PowerPoint to record audio on a Windows computer.
Pre-Recording Preparation
Before you start recording make sure that you follow the steps below.
- On your computer, silence all notifications and close any app that may produce sound
- Make sure you are recording in a private quiet area that will be free from any extraneous noise
Step 1:
Connect your Microphone
to your computer
Step 2:
Open up System Preferences
Step 3:
Select Sound
, then Input
, and then the microphone
you connected
Step 4:
Speak into the microphone and adjust the Input Volume
so the meter tops out at roughly the 2/3 mark
Step 5:
Open up Quicktime
Step 6:
Go to the top menu and choose File > New Audio Recording
Step 7:
Click the Red record button
to start recording, but make sure to double-check that Quicktime is using the correct microphone and select Maximum Quality
.
Step 8:
Click the Red record button
to stop recording
Step 8:
Go to the top menu and choose File > Save
and save your recording. Make sure to give it a descriptive title as it will be easier to keep track of your recordings.
