The Embed Code Generator is only used to create embed code for UW Extended Campus media players. The URLs for these types of media will always begin with https://media.uwex.edu/
Storybook+ Player (narrated presentations)
Example: https://media.uwex.edu/content/cyb/cyb703/cyb703_module1_essential-tcp-ip.sbproj
Generic Player (videos, animations, screen recordings, etc.)
Example: https://media.uwex.edu/content/hca/hca770_r22/hca770_scenario9_windmill-ltc/
Audio Player
Example: https://media.uwex.edu/content/hwm/hwm750_r19/hwm750_lesson1
The Embed Code Generator should always be used for embedding these players.
It should never be used for embedding the following:
- Kaltura videos
- Vimeo videos
- YouTube videos
- PDFs
- Images
- PowerPoint files
- Any other third-party media
Using the Embed Code Generator
- Paste the URL to a Storybook+ Player, Generic Player, or Audio Player project into the Input URL field. The Showcase item checkbox should only be checked for embedding content into any of the media service showcase pages (ex: Collaborative Media Showcase).
- Click Submit.
- Click in the Embed Code area and copy the embed code to your clipboard.
- Paste the embed code into your web page’s HTML body.
Best Practices
Don’t modify the code
Never change or modify any of the code that is generated. We have thoughtfully designed how our players embed on web pages (including sizing, responsiveness, etc.) and aligned this design with standard web best practices.
Always use new code
Always create new code whenever you are embedding something. Do not swap in URLs or reuse old code. We frequently update our players and the Embed Code Generator. Not generating new code can lead to the players not displaying or functioning properly on your page.
